Bad Guys Anonymous

http://fashionablygeek.com/t-shirts/dark-lord-happy-hour/

Today, dear readers, I would like to talk about a very serious issue.
Friends don't let friends become bad guys
Villains, while strictly speaking necessary in any given story, are quite unpleasant. They cause so much destruction, despair, and unhappiness.

Let's look at a few examples:

Smaug: while he couldn't really help being the villain, look how many problems this dragon caused.

Hook: little Maggie is right, he does need a Mommy.

Voldemort: now that's a guy with serious parent issues and an inferiority complex.

Those crazy queens in Alice's adventures: Who ever gave them power in the first place? They're all crazy.

Sauron: talk about evil and lust for power. And scary looking.

Sher Khan: now that's a creature who knows how to hold a grudge. Forgiveness is the only antidote.

Darth Vadar: more daddy issues. And serious misjudgments of character.

White Witch: my own personal villain. Similar to Voldemort, her insatiable lust for power did finally lead to her downfall. She was a bad lady.

Clearly, these examples show just how bad bad guys (and ladies) can be. It's all of our responsibilities to ensure that no more bad guys of their league rise up.

If you have a friend whom you think might be turning towards the dark side, please contact Bad Guys Anonymous at 1-800-BAD-GUYS.

This is a serious issue. But we all can help.

Remember, Friends don't let friends become bad guys

Becoming a Queen in Five Easy Steps

http://media-cache-ec3.pinterest.com/upload/282389839105445402_nmTZfKUm.jpg
Another dear Queen(to-be) friend: Kate with tiny Aslan

I must begin with a shout out to my dear friend, Alice, who has contributed much to my understanding of how to become a queen. Alice herself spent much time with, if I do say so, quite eccentric queens in a place called Wonderland. She has taught me to always remember my manners and to take great care when meeting other creatures for the first time (the latter through what not to say).

So, without further ado, here are my five tips on becoming a queen:

1) A prophecy. While this step is not strictly necessary, it sure does help. I wouldn't have known I was destined to become a queen if Mr. Beaver hadn't shared these prophecies with us:

Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.
When Adam's flesh and Adam's bone,Sit at Cair Paravel in throne,The evil time will be over and done.
and
Down at Cair Paravel there are four thrones, and it's a saying in Narnia time out of mind that when two Sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve sit in those four thrones, then it will be the end not only of the White Witch's reign but of her life.
2) A foe. To become a queen, there must of course be an adversary for you to overthrow. Almost always, this will be a dark and evil person. Careful, these always seem to come back somehow.

3) A special power. You might either have a special inherent ability or skill, or be given a specific gift by another. Mine, of course, is healing through the vial of juice from the fire-flower [Side note: Father Christmas is real!]. If you are not likely to receive such a gift, start practicing a specific skill now.

4) Partners. Like many things in life, becoming a queen is much easier with faithful friends at your side. In my case, my siblings were able to support each other through our transition.

5) Faithful Subjects. This step is the most important. Wherever you go in your kingdom (and life in general) you must always be kind and loving to people. Ask their names (and remember them). Don't references other creatures they may have long-standing feuds with (shout out to Alice on that one!). Be interested in their lives.

Well, that's it! On second thought, maybe those aren't so easy ...

Friends of Fauns

http://lpevensienarnia.blogspot.com/2012/12/friends-of-fauns.html

Today, dear readers, I want to introduce a cause near and dear to my heart.

I started the organization Friends of Fauns after returning from Narnia the first time. Mr. Tumnus, of course, my dear friend the Faun, was my introduction to the world of fauns.

Misunderstood creatures they are, with a reputation for being mischievous and even immoral. I can proudly report that Mr. Tumnus and the other fauns I've met in Narnia do not hold to this reputation. They are respectable  pleasant, and hospitable.

That said, there are some items which humans might want to keep in mind when befriending fauns:

1) The music from their pipes can make you very sleepy. Do make sure you are not seated in too comfortable a chair when he begins to play for you.

2) They are very proud of their lineage, so take care to respect his elders and parents.

3) They are quite resistant to cold. Be sure to bring an extra jacket when visiting his house.

If you keep these items (and your normal manners) in mind, I'm sure you will get along splendidly with your new faun friend! Good luck!

On Meeting Aslan

http://rossete139.deviantart.com/art/aslan-190526575

Today, I would like to share my reflections upon meeting Aslan for the first time. Please understand, the majesty of it surely cannot be communicated in mere words. He is indescribable. But, I am going to try my best.

Upon hearing the name Aslan for the first time, as you may well remember for yourself, a certain feeling of awe, expectation, and happiness rushes over you. Well, imagine that magnified a million times over at actually seeing him! The joy of a child on Christmas morning, or a bride on her wedding day (I'm assuming, since I've never experienced this): these are mere slivers of reflection of the love and joy Aslan himself offers.

When I saw him for the first time, at the Stone Table, with Peter and Susan (Edmund, regrettably, was not with us), I thought my soul would burst from my body for pure joy! What power, and majesty!

I truly hope, one day, each of you can experience this joy for yourself!

How It All Began

http://julia.blogg.se/2011/march/narnia.html

Lucy here.

For my entrance into the blogging world, I want to share my thoughts on what happened that special Spring day ... the day I first entered Narnia.

I was playing hide-and-seek (as you may well know) with my brothers, Peter and Edmund, and sister, Susan. I assumed an out of the way spare room, inside the wardrobe it contained, would make a rather nice hiding spot. But when I entered it, the wardrobe kept going, and going, and going. It seemed to never have a back!

My, what a surprise it was to find myself in that snowy forest. Much colder than an English forest, of course. What an eerily, yet instantly enduring place it was.

Now, some of you may think me foolish for being so trusting towards the first person I met. However, I knew perfectly well that anyone carrying parcels under an umbrella could be no real threat to me. As I learned later, it was all part of Aslan's plan.

Tea time with Mr. Tumnus: the beginning of my very best friendship. He has taught me so much over the years about Narnia, friendship, and life. I do hope you have such a friend. Also, you can read this post on becoming friends with a faun.

When it came time for me to leave Narnia that afternoon, I had no second-thoughts, because I knew I would be back. I would take my three siblings there straight away. Of course, this was silly, looking back on it: there was no guarantee I would enter Narnia again, except that our role in Aslan's plan was just beginning to unfold.

So, my main thought on that lovely day: always be ready for an adventure, wherever you go.
